Notice #5, a Recording for the Season
WINTER 2009 COMPOSITION FOR FIELD DRONES AND DOMESTIC RECORDINGS
A piece for memories and relocated sense of place
An empty Field covered in snow, ambiance of Classical music playing with Woodstove humming, People singing, Snow movement and other objects. A found tape of my Father singing a song of his, another found tape of Choral and Organ music.
Recorded using an Edirol field recorder, an old alarm-clock radio speaker made into a microphone and the internal mic of an old Sony boombox.
Not much equipment at home in Vermont, so :
Compiled and edited digitally using the program "Goldwav".
Happy holidays to everyone

First thought
I am inside a giant concrete dome with a mosaic composed of beautiful green and blue tiles. I am suspended from the ceiling and all I can say is, "Yes I am".
Record buying public--rationalizing
Record companies have vicious promotions these days. Rationalizing purchases has become easier than ever. Even with the onset of unemployment, consumers intrepidly chase their collector's impulses. Satiate their curiosities deeper than before.
As a person interested in expanding musical horizons, I wonder, at what point will there be an overload? When will I have to choose between two, or ten, or fifty when no exclusions will do? Who will fold first, me or them?
